What to expect at our Sunday Services
Our 9am combined service is held in our main auditorium. Entry is through the main doors on Parkinson Street. You will be greeted by two stewards who will introduce you to some of our 50-60 regulars who come to this service time. The service aims to be a mix of contemporary feel, with modern chorus style with some hymns for those who enjoy a traditional service. Most weeks we use piano and occasionally drums, guitars and other instruments. We also have singers who help lead the congregation in the music.
The atmosphere is relaxed and during the first part of the service people warmly greet each other. We have a communion service monthly (1st Sunday), and this is done via intinction (dipping). The service goes for 1 hour and is followed by morning tea in the concourse area.
The service is lead by a volunteer leader in conjunction with the Minister. This service caters for children of all ages and includes a children’s time, children’s song and an offering where people come forward to put money in a special bowl for children’s and youth ministry through our church. The children go out to a Kid’s Church program half-way through the service, while the adults stay for the sermon. Communion is held on the 1st Sunday of each month and includes the children – either before they go out or at the end. Communion (by intinction) is normally served in a large circle.
Twice a year, the Ecumenical Choir performs a cantata at our 9.30am service (normally for Easter and Christmas).
If you would like to come to our Wednesday Fellowship services you need to turn up Wednesday at 10.30am (school terms) and go to our Chapel. There you will find an enthusiastic and friendly older congregation who enjoy sharing with each other and have guest speakers most weeks. Communion is lead by the Minister on the 1st Wednesday of each month. A shared lunch is held afterwards, normally between 12 noon and 1pm.
