Pastoral-Care-1

Pastoral Care

The Pastoral Care Workshop was run by Jean Shannon, our Canberra Region Presbytery Hospital Chaplain, on Wednesday 4th September for members of the WCUC congregation. Jean led us in reflections of what pastoral care was, in making space for others and being a listening ear. The Pastoral Care task group is endeavouring to deepen our understanding and grow our skills in caring for each other. Other training days are planned for the near future.

As a church, many people feel well looked after by their network of relationships and groups that they attend. But some are unable to be part of these groups, because they are new, suffering from illness, or just find themselves on the outer. It is for this reason that the Pastoral Care task group is trying to find ways to provide support for those who have an unfulfilled need.

If you have a need, or need someone to talk to or pray with, please contact our pastoral care group, either via our office or directly to a task group member.

Have you seen the NEW KITCHEN!!

If you haven’t checked out the kitchen renovations then we suggest you come and have a look. You may need a lesson on the dishwasher but don’t let that deter you from enjoying all that the new kitchen has to offer. Many thanks to Graham Giles and the rest of the volunteers for their hard labour. But it’s done so ‘Hallelujah’!!

Putting on Christ

Dressed for service (A message from Dr Tim)

For the last few years since my knee operations I have been trying to stay fit by riding a bike – I do OK…mostly riding around the lake…I need to tell you that I do not wear a lot of lycra…so I am not a mamil…I wear a bicycle shirt because of its pockets and clip on shoes but NO lycra!!. But when I come out to go riding I am dressed for action. Helmet, shirt, glasses, water bottle, shoes….if you don’t prepare then it’s going to be more difficult – if not impossible to complete the journey.

The trouble with riding I find is that Continue reading

It’s a start!

This is a the beginning of a new look for the Weston Creek Uniting Church Web site. We are attempting to change the way we use technology. I believe that it will create a whole lot of new opportunities for us in the community. This new approach  is going to take some getting use to. But we have to start somewhere.

I am going to try and put a summary of my sermons up as a post each week, plus our web site team will be putting up posts about regular events. Once we get all the functions working properly we just need you to subscribe to the site and you will get an email to tell you when news things have been put there. It’s going to take time to get this looking right. But it’s a start…
