The Pastoral Care Workshop was run by Jean Shannon, our Canberra Region Presbytery Hospital Chaplain, on Wednesday 4th September for members of the WCUC congregation. Jean led us in reflections of what pastoral care was, in making space for others and being a listening ear. The Pastoral Care task group is endeavouring to deepen our understanding and grow our skills in caring for each other. Other training days are planned for the near future.
As a church, many people feel well looked after by their network of relationships and groups that they attend. But some are unable to be part of these groups, because they are new, suffering from illness, or just find themselves on the outer. It is for this reason that the Pastoral Care task group is trying to find ways to provide support for those who have an unfulfilled need.
If you have a need, or need someone to talk to or pray with, please contact our pastoral care group, either via our office or directly to a task group member.
